Summary      
Cecil William Murray was the son of Isabella Jane Murray. Cecil was born in Bannow, County Wexford about 1884.His father seems to have died between 1897 and 1901. Cecil joined the Bank of Ireland in Dublin in June 1901.Cecil Murray joined the 7th (Pals) Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in September 1914. Private Murray survived the landing at Suvla Bay, but was killed in action at Kis-lar-dagh, Gallipoli, Turkey on Monday 16th August 1915. Currently, no connection with Castledawson has been discovered, except that his sister lived there.

Cecil William Murray was the son of Isabella Jane Murray. Cecil was born in Bannow, County Wexford about 1884.
Known family: Isabella Jane Murray, Maud Ethel Murray (born about 1882), Claude Murray (born about 1888), Lillie Florence Murray (born about 1891), Kenneth Cowan Murray (born about 1892), Noel Lancelot Murray (born about 1895), John Murray (born about 1897), Charles Nolan Murray (born about 1897).
His father seems to have died between 1897 and 1901.
Cecil Murray was educated in Waterford.
The 1901 census does not list Cecil as living with the family at house 9 in Bannow More, Bannow, County Wexford. His mother was a widow. Instead, the lists Cecil Murray as age 17 living with an uncle and sister Maud at house 15 in Hatch Street Lower, Fitzwilliam, Dublin. He was a student.
Cecil joined the Bank of Ireland in June 1901.
The 1911 census lists Cecil William as age 27 living with the family at house 17 in Dartmouth Square, Rathmines & Rathgar East, Dublin. Cecil was working as a bank official.
The 1911 census also lists his sister, Maud Ethel Tarleton, living at house 54 in Castledawson Town, County Londonderry.
Cecil Murray joined the 7th (Pals) Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in September 1914.

Private Cecil Murray left England for active service in the Mediterranean in July 1915.
Private Murray took part in the landing at Suvla Bay.
Private Cecil William Murray was killed in action at Kis-lar-dagh, Gallipoli, Turkey on Monday 16th August 1915.
From the Belfast Newsletter dated 11th September 1915:
Mrs J B Tarleton, The Rectory, Castledawson, has been notified that her brother, Mr C W Murray, has been killed in action at the Dardanelles. Private Murray, who was a member of the secretarial staff of the Bank of Ireland, enlisted in the ‘Pals’ Company of the 7th Dublin Fusiliers. He was one of the landing party at Suvla Bay, and was killed ten days later.
From the Mid Ulster Mail dated 18th September 1915: Castledawson
Rev W Kelly, B.A., rector of Bellaghy, who conducted the afternoon services in Christ Church on Sunday, made sympathetic reference to the loss sustained by Rev J B Tarleton and Mrs Tarleton to the death of Mr C W Murray, who was killed in action at the Dardanelles and who was Mrs Tarleton’s eldest brother.
Private Cecil William Murray has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial at Gallipoli, Turkey.
Private Cecil William Murray is also commemorated on the Bank of Ireland Memorial in the Bank of Ireland Building in College Green in Dublin.
Currently, no connection with Castledawson has been discovered, except that his sister lived there.
