Summary      
Robert John Rowe was the son of Joseph and Esther Rowe. He was born on 5th April 1898. They were a farming family from Drumoolish, Tamlaght O’Crilly, Upperlands, Co. Derry. Robert’s mother died in December 1905 when Robert was 7 years old. Private Robert John Rowe was serving with the 10th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme on Saturday 1st July 1916.
