Summary      
William McIlroy was the son of John and Marion McIlroy. He was born on 5th March 1887 in or near Bellaghy, County Londonderry. He was one of nine children. They were a farming family who lived in Ballyscullion, Bellaghy. 2nd Corporal William McIlroy was serving with the 13th Base Park Company of the Royal Engineers when he was killed in action at Gallipoli on Tuesday 20th July 1915. He was 28 years old.
