Summary      
Andrew Bowman was the son of Joseph and Bessie Bowman. He was born about 1899 in Dalmuir, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Andrew’s parents moved to Drumrainey, Magherafelt. Private Andrew Bowman was serving with the 1st Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders when he died on 4th May 1918. He was 19 years old. Andrew’s older brother Joseph also died in the war. He too served with the Gordon Highlanders.

Andrew Bowman was the son of Joseph and Bessie Bowman. He was born about 1899 in Dalmuir, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.
Andrew’s parents moved to Magherafelt after 1911. There is no record of them in the 1911 Irish Census.

Private Andrew Bowman was serving with the 1st Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders when he died on 4th May 1918. He was 19 years old.
Andrew’s older brother Joseph also died in the war. He too served with the Gordon Highlanders. Private Joseph Bowman died a year earlier on 14th April 1917. He was 21 years old.
Private Bowman is buried in La Vertannoy British Cemetery in Hinges, near Bethune, Pas de Calais, France.
The CWGC record Private Andrew Bowman as the son of Joseph and Bessie Bowman, of Drumrainey, Magherafelt, Co. Derry. It also records that he was born at Dalmuir, Dunbartonshire.
